Parents, please see the attached picture for the current traffic flow for student drop-off and pick-up while construction in front of the school is ongoing. We are hopeful the construction will be completed soon and will communicate with everyone as soon as drop-off and pick-up can return to normal.
High school parents, please help us remind students to continue entering through 7th Street and not Church Street.
Also, until construction is complete, if your student arrives late or needs to be picked up early, please park at the gym and come to the office to sign them in or out. Thank you for your patience and support during this time.

As many of you may have noticed, road work is currently taking place in front of the school. Teachers who normally park in front of the building may park in front of the gym during this time. Parent drop-off will take place at the back of the school. Please drop students off at the back cafeteria doors. To stay consistent with the high school student traffic flow, please enter from 7th Street by the gym and exit onto Church Street. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work through this temporary change.

Our 7th grade students have been hard at work learning across multiple subjects!

In English, students are exploring different types of drama, building their understanding of dialogue, characters, and how stories come to life through performance and script.

In Science, students are learning all about how the heart works. They are studying the parts of the heart, how blood flows through the body, and why the cardiovascular system is so important to keeping us healthy and strong.

We are proud of the effort our students are putting into their learning each day.

Happy National School Counselors Week 🤍 This week we want to take a moment to truly thank Mrs. Stafford for the care, patience, and heart she pours into our school every single day. She goes above and beyond for our students, meeting them where they are and helping them navigate challenges with compassion and understanding. Mrs. Stafford is a steady presence on our campus. Someone students trust, families rely on, and staff deeply appreciate. The impact she has on the lives of our kids reaches far beyond the school walls, and we are so grateful for the difference she makes each day. Thank you, Mrs. Stafford, for your dedication, kindness, and for always putting students first. We are blessed to have you.

As a result of the recent closures, Sterling City ISD has made a calendar adjustment. February 13th will now be a regular school day. As of now, that is the only scheduled make-up day. We will adjust accordingly in the event of any other changes.

Reality Check: It’s Your Money The high school students recently took part in a hands-on financial literacy simulation called Reality Check: It’s Your Money. This activity gave them a chance to step into the real world and see what managing money actually looks like. Students rotated through eight stations covering real-life expenses like housing, transportation, insurance, food, and credit. They had to make choices, build a budget, and figure out how to make their money last. For many, it was eye-opening to see how fast expenses add up and how important planning can be. Several students commented that they didn’t realize how much budgeting matters until they tried it themselves. Students who completed their budgets correctly were entered into a drawing for Amazon gift cards. Congratulations to our winners, Alessandra Marin and Sophia Rudewick! We truly appreciate our community members who volunteered their time to run stations and talk with students: Rhea McGinnis, Lupe Cabrera, Irene Sanders, Derek Ouellette, Oscar Galavis, Milissa Wright, Angela Samaniego, and the Honorable Judge Counts. Your involvement made the experience realistic and meaningful. Thank you also to Mrs. Stafford, Mrs. Velez, Mrs. Musick, and Mrs. Davis for helping with decorations and setup.

As the weather forecast is showing chances of inclement weather, we wanted to give an update and insight into the decision making process at Sterling City ISD and share information that will be helpful to our school community.

Stay in the loop:
- If you have not, please download the Sterling City app, available in all app stores. This is your one-stop shop for all things Sterling City ISD.
-We also use the app for all calls and text message updates. If you have not been receiving updates, please check with your campus secretary to ensure we have correct contact information.
When will we know if there is a schedule change?
- The district leadership team works closely with the Sterling County Sheriff's office to monitor weather and road conditions and consider multiple factors before making any schedule adjustments.
- The goal for decisions regarding delays or cancellations is to make it as early as possible. We will make every effort to make a decision the night before school, but ever changing forecasts and weather can make this difficult. If a decision has to be made on the day of, we will make that decision as early as possible.
